In this episode, we’re joined by Daniel Sundahl, a paramedic and renowned photo artist whose compelling work captures the raw emotions and realities faced by first responders.  We also meet Dr. Peter Antevy, Medical Director for several EMS agencies in Florida, whose innovative approaches to pre-hospital care have garnered national attention. Following him, MaKenzie Tiegs, a former paramedic who has transitioned into a role that supports the mental health and wellbeing of EMS professionals, shares her journey and the lessons learned along the way.

Jason Patton, firefighter/paramedic, brings humor and light to the often intense world of emergency services, reminding us of the importance of laughter and camaraderie. Bryony Gilbey, director and producer of the documentary film 'Honorable but Broken: EMS in Crisis', offers a behind-the-scenes look at the challenges facing EMS today, highlighting the critical need for support and reform.

Her academic journey led her through business college in the vibrant city of Seattle. Following her education, Anita served as a paralegal and office manager for a highly successful law firm in Seattle. Later, in partnership with her ex-husband, she became the owner of several car dealerships in Washington State.

After navigating the challenges of divorce, Anita embarked on a transformative journey to the remote town of Freedom, Oklahoma. There, she invested in a sprawling 3400-acre ranch, raising rodeo bulls alongside a local cowboy partner. Her bold investments included the construction of a lodge, arena, and restaurant. Anita walked away from a privileged lifestyle in the city and moved to Freedom, Oklahoma to escape the heartache of divorce.

While in Oklahoma, Anita and her unique business ventures were regularly featured in local newspaper publications. She appeared on Oklahoma based television shows Discover Oklahoma and Doc Geiger's Outdoor Sports. In 2004 Reality TV came knocking. Anita worked for a year with Telepictures and Warner Brothers Studio on the production of a reality television show about life on a dude ranch. Anita was subsequently featured in in an expose' about her Reality TV involvement in the National Enquirer.

Ena Lucia Mariaca Pacheco is a trauma-informed professional specialized in child sexual abuse, exploitation, and trafficking. She has two bachelor’s degrees from the University of Ottawa, Canada, and a master's degree in human security from Royal Roads University, Canada. For over a decade, she has worked with the Government of Canada, non-governmental organizations, international organizations, INTERPOL, law enforcement, and lived-experts on research, policy writing, human rights advocacy work, and global projects focused on supporting victims and survivors. Ena Lucia has also assisted vulnerable communities and victims of human trafficking as a volunteer with NGOs in trafficking hotspots. During her time working at Canadian Parliament with Member of Parliament Joy Smith, Ena Lucia built a database to track human trafficking cases and to provide supporting data for Bill C-310, a piece of legislation that enhanced the definition of exploitation in the criminal offense of human trafficking. Using information from this database, Bill C-310 also enabled the prosecution of Canadians who committed crimes against children and human trafficking offenses outside of Canada’s borders. Ena Lucia's research was also used to support Bill S-224, An Act to Amend the Criminal Code (Trafficking in Persons) before the Standing Committee on Justice and Human Rights. Ena Lucia is the Global Ambassador of the Council on Violence against Men and Boys. She is also Co-Founder of the 2024 International Conference on Violence against Men and Boys. Ena Lucia is a trainer and international speaker and has presented her research at international conferences, the United Nations and INTERPOL. She is also a published researcher, and her work can be found in the Child Abuse and Neglect Journal special edition on boys.
